Barbie Ferreira Slams Body Obsession as ‘Rage Bait’ and Calls Weight Loss Talk “Boring”

Barbie Ferreira has spoken out against the growing obsession with body image online, calling it “rage bait” designed to spark controversy and drive engagement.

The Euphoria star, 29, shared her thoughts during an appearance on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, where she criticised the constant focus on weight loss and so-called “glow ups.”

“To me, talking about weight loss or glowing up is so boring,” she said. “People are just obsessed with that right now.”

Ferreira explained that the issue goes far beyond her own experience, saying actresses across the industry are constantly judged on their appearance.

“It’s not just me. Every actress right now is being put under a microscope of being too skinny or too big,” she said. “It’s all rage bait. If you can find something for people to argue about, it performs better.”

She also highlighted how social media has made people more comfortable making harsh comments about others’ bodies — something she believes wouldn’t happen in real life.

“You would never say any of this to someone face-to-face,” she said. “Most of it isn’t even true.”

Reflecting on her own journey, Ferreira revealed she has been dealing with public scrutiny since she was a teenager.

“I was 16 years old,” she said. “I feel like I’ve been the punching bag of this generation’s body politics.”

Despite the pressure, Ferreira says she is focusing on her health in her own way, including working out and building positive routines as she approaches 30.

Her comments come as more celebrities push back against unrealistic beauty standards and the growing pressure created by social media.
